Eye exam

An eye test measures your prescription and checks how your eyes are working. It is for anyone who wears glasses or contact lenses, who notices they are not seeing as well or who has not had their eyes checked for a while.

What it includes

We measure your prescription for distance and near vision and check how your eyes are working. If you need glasses or want to change the ones you wear, we explain the options.

The eye test also includes:

• Tonometry, with an air-puff tonometer. It measures the pressure in the eye.
• Keratometry. It measures the curvature of the cornea, the front part of the eye.
• Therapeutic filters, when needed.

If you only want your eye pressure measured, we also do that separately: it costs €4.

Retinal photography, if you want it

If you wish, we can add retinal photography: a photo of the back of the eye taken with a retinal camera. It is optional and costs €30 extra. You can decide at the same appointment. This amount is not taken off when you order your glasses.

How long it takes and what it costs

The appointment takes about 45 minutes. The eye test costs €25 and is free if you order your glasses from us. If you’d like to think it over, you have a month: order your glasses from us within that time and we’ll take the €25 off.

How often to come in

If you do not notice any changes, it is a good idea to have your eyes tested every two years. Come in sooner if you notice changes: if your distance or near vision gets worse, or if you get more tired when reading or using screens. If you already wear glasses, the eye test tells you whether your prescription is still right for you.

What to bring

If you wear glasses or contact lenses, bring them to the appointment. That way we can compare your prescription today with the one you are wearing.
